Fast stereoselective reactions in electrosprayed Co(II)/neurotransmitter nanodroplets.
Collision induced dissociation (CID) of the m/z 479 ion, formed by ESI of Co(NO3)2-CH3OH solutions with either pure (1S,2S)-(+)-N-methylpseudoephedrine or its mixtures with (1S,2R)-(+)- or (1R,2S)-(-)-ephedrine, provides compelling evidence for fast, stereoselective reactions in Co(II)/neurotrasmitter(s) aggregates during solvent evaporation of the ESI droplets.
متن کاملCellular Reactions to Wax-like Materials from Acid-fast Bacteria
1. The unsaponifiable fractions of the Mycobacteria, though insoluble in water and extremely stable chemical compounds, are nevertheless remarkable stimulants of cells. 2. They give rise to new monocytes which surround these waxes and then fuse into giant cells which engulf them. 3. The property of acid-fastness of the waxes makes it possible to identify them within the giant cells which have p...
متن کاملUnseen facial and bodily expressions trigger fast emotional reactions.
The spontaneous tendency to synchronize our facial expressions with those of others is often termed emotional contagion. It is unclear, however, whether emotional contagion depends on visual awareness of the eliciting stimulus and which processes underlie the unfolding of expressive reactions in the observer. It has been suggested either that emotional contagion is driven by motor imitation (i....
متن کاملA semi-quantitative equivalence for abstracting from fast reactions
Semantic equivalences are used in process algebra to capture the notion of similar behaviour, and this paper proposes a semi-quantitative equivalence for a stochastic process algebra developed for biological modelling. We consider abstracting away from fast reactions as suggested by the QuasiSteady-State Assumption. We define a fast-slow bisimilarity based on this idea. We also show congruence ...
متن کاملThe Cellular Reactions to Lipoid Fractions from Acid-fast Bacilli
1. A comparative study has been made of the cellular reactions induced by phosphatides from five strains of acid-fast bacilli. Each of these reactions is characterized principally by epithelioid cells and giant cells. 2. The phosphatides are first phagocytized by young connective tissue cells or monocytes. The lipoid is then dispersed into fine particles with the formation of classical epitheli...
